Caroline Garcia put a logical end to a wonderful six-month period of her career, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the WTA final (7-6 6-4). Back in June, Garcia wasn’t even ranked in the top 70, but since then, Garcia has been playing brilliantly, winning the most important title of her career.

Garcia became the second French tennis player to win WTA Finals. Amélie Mauresmo was the first one to do it back in 2005. At the same time, Garcia became the fourth female tennis player to win WTA Finals at the age of 28 or older. Before Garcia, Serena Williams, Jana Novotna and Martina Navratilova were able to do it.

I, Armaz Akhvlediani, work as a journalist for Setanta Sports. I'm writing analytical articles, about socio-economic and political influences on football, besides - blogs and reviews. Before that, I worked as a contributing writer for Liberali, National Geographic and Radio Freedom. I'm one of the founders and chief editors of a literature magazine - "Daraji" (Watchmen). Since I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in comparative literature, I am keen on providing the readers and viewers with some fresh perspective – the articles I write often compare sports events with those presented in literary works, finding similarities and eventually arriving at earlier unexplored destinations through less travelled roads.
