After a two-year hiatus, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is making an impressive return to Australia.
Novak Djokovic is no stranger to winning, but on Australian soil, he becomes especially lethal.
On Tuesday, his winning streak in Australian tournaments extended to 30, as he won over Constant Lestienne in the first round of the Adelaide 250.
In the fourth round of the AO 2018, Nole lost to South Korean Hyeon Chung. Since then, he has been unbeaten in Australia.
Novak’s eye-popping stats don’t stop there: he’s also won 48 of his last 50 matches in Australia, and 73 of his last 76.
Djokovic was asked about the secret to his Australian success:
“If I had to choose one country in terms of success, it would be Australia. It was here that I won my first Grand Slam trophy, and had several epic matches. For example, the unforgettable final in 2012 against Nadal. In terms of Tennis, Australia has always treated me exceptionally well. I always look forward to coming here and meeting the local fans.”
