UEFA Under-21 EURO – Georgia’s Journey

The UEFA Under-21 European Championship is one of the first major tournaments where future stars of European and world football participate – and this year, it holds special significance for Georgia.

For the first time, Georgia U21 earned their place in the tournament by qualifying through the group stage. Ramaz Svanadze’s team fought hard, finishing second behind the Netherlands and then defeating Croatia in a tense playoff match that went to penalties.

What’s even more impressive — this marks the second consecutive time Georgia U21 will compete among Europe’s top 16 teams. In 2023, Georgia co-hosted the European U21 Championship with Romania.

During the previous tournament, Ramaz Svanadze’s team played against strong opponents, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to Israel on penalties. In that same event, Georgian fans packed Dinamo Arena, setting a record for U21 tournament attendance, with 44 338 spectators at the match against Israel.
