The head coach of Spain U21 answered questions from the media in Batumi, where the final of the European Championship will take place.
Spain U21 coach Santi Denia has emphasized the importance of reaching excellence in order to defeat England in the final of the European Championship. Denia recognized that it will not be enough to simply play well against the mighty English team.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the highly-anticipated match, Denia stated:
“To beat England, it is not enough to just play very well. We need to reach excellence. We must be practically perfect in all aspects of the game.”
Preparing for the final has come with its challenges, as the Spain U21 team had to endure a six-hour journey and a lack of training time. Denia acknowledged the circumstances, saying:
“Once we knew the schedule, we knew that if we reached the final, we would have to adjust. We did the best we could with our recovery process, and today we had our pre-match training session. We have fewer days for recovery, but we’re working to arrive in the best possible condition for tomorrow.”
As for the starting lineup, Denia revealed that he is still considering his options and that “everyone” has a chance of being included, despite consistently selecting the same starting eleven in the previous two matches. He also brushed off any concerns about the end of the cycle for the 2000 generation, which he has guided from the U17 level.
“I haven’t thought about whether the cycle is ending or not. We are focused on tomorrow’s match and providing our players with the details about the English national team. I can assure you that we have only thought about tomorrow’s match.”
The clash with England promises to be a thrilling encounter between two football giants vying for the prestigious U21 Euro title. Denia’s determination to reach excellence highlights the level of intensity and preparation his team is bringing to the final.
Only time will tell if Spain can rise to the challenge and secure victory against a formidable English side. Football fans around the world eagerly await the showdown between these talented young players.
