Pele has died | Setanta Sports

Pele passed away at the age of 82. The Brazilian three-time world champion’s condition has deteriorated in the last month.

Pele was transferred to palliative care after his body stopped responding to chemotherapy.

The Brazilian national team dedicated their World Cup 1/8 finals victory to Pele.

Response

“Football was just a sport before Pele,” Neymar wrote on Instagram.

“Descansa en paz – rest in peace,” world champion Leo Messi said goodbye to three-time world champion Pele.

“A mere goodbye to the eternal King Pele will never be enough to express the pain that is enveloping the whole of the football world right now.

The care he always showed for me was reciprocated in every moment we shared, even when we were apart.

His memory will endure forever in every one of us who love football.”

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gianni Infantino both responded to Pele’s death. FIFA President expressed his sadness over the incident and referred to Pele as the athlete of the century.

Pele’s former clubs, Brazilian Santos and American Cosmos, both responded to his death.

Kelly Nascimento posted about her father’s death on social media: “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”
