Through its foundation, Real Madrid joins Shakhtar Donetsk’s solidarity initiative to support the Ukrainian people in the harsh winter conditions.
In Ukraine, the problem of electricity supply and other energy resources is still acute. The reason is obvious – Russian airstrikes. The aggressor country continues to attack the energy infrastructure. As a result, heating is problematic in addition to the supply of electric energy.
Shakhtar Donetsk turned to European football clubs for help. The goal is to purchase power generators and, in this regard, ease the harsh winter for the population.
Real Madrid supports Shakhtar’s initiative and allocates 20 generators as aid, which will be distributed in different parts of Ukraine.
Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk were rivals in the group in the current season of the Champions League. Real Madrid won 2-1, and the match in Warsaw ended in a 1-1 draw. In the end, Real came out of Group F with first place, and the Donetsk team, due to occupying the third position, will play against the French Rennes in the preliminary round of the Europa League playoffs.
