Four days before the start of the World Cup FIFA reported on the number of sold tickets . According to Reuters, more than 2.89 million were sold – nearly 300,000 more than Qatar’s population.
The top 10 countries whose residents purchased tickets include: Qatar, the United States, Saudi Arabia, England, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, France, Brazil and Germany. Qatar is expected to host 1.2 million fans during the World Cup.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the sale of 240,000 hospitality packages: they include full service and are designed for the wealthy. The cost of such packages for the semifinals and finals start at $34,300.
