We have coded the various stages of the transfers to make life a little easier and to understand whether a transfer link is mere tabloid tittle-tattle or something rather more concrete.

naim - 02 September 2008 02:29: once again fergie has stolen one of tottenhams players again. an in return we get someone on loan... why? why didn't we just complain to the FA. what really annoyed me was that he had to sign berbatov in the dying seconds so we couldn't sign anyone to replace him. campbell is a good talent but let us sign him not loan him. fergie has done this on purpose, he knows tottenham is an upcoming team so he tries to raid our players. i dn't mind berba going but sign him earlier at least. but two new good signings roman and corluka! but should have been two more, garcia went to real betis from zaragoza and milito went to genoa from zaragoza so quite dissapointing but COYS; Report this to a moderator

kate, man city fan - 02 September 2008 00:46: i am excited that we're looking to the future and at winning trophies. i think robinho has been great for real and i hope he can reproduce that form at city, however i am just as excited at the return of our prodical son shaun wright-philips, he is a quality player and i think although he didn't play much at chelsea he has become a much better player because of his time there. i think the pair of them will be fantastic and for city fans i think it will be a year of falling back in love with the club; Report this to a moderator

“Heskey offered something Owen wouldn't be able to - physical presence. It's needed against the rougher teams that can't play football as well. I think the inclusion of Crouch is a necessity with England's style of play. With long balls a constant, there has to be a good header of the ball, and Crouch offers this (As does Heskey but not so much), with 2 smallers strikers in Owen and Rooney (and Theo if he's played there) then England will make far more chances. Interesting to see Beckham playing a deep playmaker role in the 2nd half.”
